"Our girl from Tijuana remixes a Hello Seahorse! hit, and collaborates with Money Mark...

Julieta is a confessed fan of Mexican electronica-pop trio, Hello Seahorse!, in fact, Julieta went to the last edition of the Vive Latino Festival with the intention of listening to the band, and judging from posts on her Twitter, she was delighted with the show.

Then, Hello Seahorse! uploaded “Bestia,” to their site (a track that’s quickly becoming the Mex-Latin Alternative track of the year). The intention was to allow fans to do their own version of the song. Julieta was one of the first who turned in their personal vision of the song and it’s the first time as well, that Julieta made public a remix (download Julieta’s remix here).

Julieta’s reading of the track, keeps the central melody of the original version, her contribution goes toward the beat, a bit reminiscent of “Sería feliz”, one of the most endearing singles from this “mexican norteña.” Indie blog, club fonograma, called the version, “sublime.” Yes, indeed.

On the other hand, Julieta is currently at work with a group of friends that include Money Mark (best known for his work as keyboard player with the Beastie Boys), Camilo Lara (MIS) and Martin Thulin (Los Fancy Free).

“We’re doing some recordings at Molotov’s studio in Coyoacán” said Money Mark, and added, “Julieta is playing the accordion and singing on some stuff. We’ll see where this leads us to. I’m not sure yet whether is a group collaboration that will end up with MIS (Mexican Institute of Sound) or it will turn out to be something else.”
